Our New Home Has Arrived

Sooooo….we did a thing.

We weren’t planning on buying a new house but a freezing Saturday in December, but we stopped into an open house and didn’t leave. We put an offer in right there. I don’t know if it was the location, the fact that it was the first house with a layout that worked for us, or we had just lost our minds, but we went from loving our current house to needing this house in about an hour.

Fast forward almost two months, and we finally got the keys! (You can read more about the home buying process from a loan officers point of view in this post.)

We knew our first home wasn’t our forever home and we were thinking of selling it in Spring 2018. I am always looking at the inventory on homes in our preferred neighborhood (like daily, it's an obsession). Being in the mortgage industry and knowing we were casually looking, I even like to stop in open houses, meet the agents, and see what's being offered in our price range. So that's how we found it, right place right time.

The house was built in 1902, and remodeled (including a 2nd floor addition) in the early 2000’s. What I love about this house most is the location. It's less than a block to the library and rec center, and two blocks from shopping and restaurants. We can hear the music from the park concerts and walk our daughter to school. It is a bit smaller than our current home, but it still has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

The home has beautiful high ceilings, a flat backyard for playing, and a great enclosed front porch. Sadly the early 2000’s remodel left almost nothing original. But, I have big plans for every room in this house and I can’t wait to share our renovation with you!
